Beatles Memorabilia

by Robert
(Boston, Massachusetts)

I only recently began getting more active in this endeavor, but it started about five years ago when I made some sweet money on some old Beatles stuff I had just laying around. The first Beatles item I sold was the Yellow Submarine lunch box, complete with thermos inside.

A friend of a friend saw it and actually offered me $50.00 for it. I countered with "That's worth at least $100, but I'll take $75.00". Well, he produced the $75 on the spot and I was in the business of selling collectibles. Since that time, I have sold Beatles records, a Beatles board game called "Flip Your Wig", postcards featuring the Beatles, magazines, books, etc., all from that era.

One of the great venues to see, buy or sell your Beatles items is at Beatlefest. This is a three day "seminar", or more like a "celebration" of the Beatles music and their legacy. It appears all around the country in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and the one closest to me, Secaucus, New Jersey.

Beatles memorabilia is easy to sell at Beatlefest, and it doesn't have to be from that era, although vintage pieces do attract more dollars. The event is not just about collectibles though. There are Beatles trivia games, Beatles cover bands, and special guests who appear such as Denny Laine from Wings and even Cynthia Lennon.

For me, the collectibles are the main attraction. Know how to make coffee mugs? Get in on this enormous business. My favorite mug is still the black & white faces of the Fab Four from "Meet the Beatles".
