Blogging for Income

by Shelly
(Canton, OH, USA)

WordPress is my personal favorite blogging platform. I find it the easiest for me. WordPress offers over 50 templates and making changes to those templates is easy. It offers 50 MB of storage for images, and it uses a spam prevention system that works great.

Blogger is also a very popular platform. Many people prefer Blogger because of its ease of use also. It’s best to find the one that is easiest to use if you are a beginner.

Several blogging platforms, including WordPress and Blogger, allow you to start your own blog free of charge. I think that is the best way to get started. Use one of the free services to get a feel for it. That’s the way I started. Then once I decided it was something that I could actually do and perhaps make money doing, I moved up to a self-hosted blog. This seems a more profitable way to make money blogging.

A self-hosted blog site isn’t free but it still has very little cost. You’ll need to pay for a domain name and web hosting. The two combined can be as little as $15 a month. If you’re looking to make a few hundred dollars one of these options is probably ideal for your needs. That’s what I do and I easily make $300 a month with very little effort.

I have an acquaintance that actually makes more money now than when he worked full time. He got laid off and started blogging as a means of making money to survive. Now he spends much less time working, enjoys it more than his previous job, and makes more money. So it’s possible to make a living blogging if you really dedicate yourself to it.

I make a few hundred dollars a month by spending only a few minutes a day on average on my blog. I’m sure that in the near future I’ll spend more time working it to see how much income it can generate.
