A Home Based Business Start Up
Now more than ever a home based business start up makes sense. Economically, we are in perilous times and that is not likely to change soon. A business that you operate from your home could be the difference between keeping your bills current and getting hopelessly behind. Many of these opportunities can be a part-time, and many others can eventually provide you with a full-time income.
Home based business start up opportunities range from lawn care to your very own website. There are literally hundreds of opportunities and something for everyone. The ingredient that never changes is tenacity. Successful entrepreneurs make up their minds to make their business work, and they don't quit until it's either a success, or they have exhausted every option. Regardless of the home based start up that you choose, you are going to have to be dedicated to it, perhaps even more so that you have been to your employer. When you are the boss there isn't anybody to blame but yourself. If you have hired employees and they mess up, it's still your fault because you hired them. You have to have that mind-set.
One thing you do not have to have for a home based business start up is a lot of money. You could start up a window washing business for less than $100. Most of that would be cleaning supplies. Some of it would be ad flyers and business cards. Windows will always get dirty, and some people will never want to clean their own. When we were in retailing we paid window washers to do the chore, and usually it was the person who just happened to drop by when the windows were too dirty to wait any longer. We also had someone power wash our sidewalk when it got too dirty to wait any longer on the landlord. Power washers are not extremely expensive, and you could even sign up prospects before you buy the equipment to determine if it is a viable enterprise. We didn't change our own air conditioning filters. It was easier to hire someone to do it. Before someone came around canvasing for business, I never had thought of that as a business. The person who owned this business made a living at it, and he was eventually able to sell it when he wanted to move to Florida. We had bubblegum and toy capsule machines in each of our store locations. We bought our own machines because they would easily pay for themselves within a few months. Most store owners do not buy their own bubblegum vending machines, so there is opportunity there for someone who wants an easy-entry home based business. An entrepreneur who chose this business start up could begin with a few basic bubblegum machines and continue buying them until he had them in dozens of locations, or else he could branch out into a greater variety of vending machines. The vending industry is big business, and bubblegum machines could be a good entry point. Since most of the machines would be placed and making money, necessary storage space would be minimal. Those are just a few ideas for a home based business start up that I gleaned from my experience as a retailer. We wrote checks like crazy to entrepreneurs who made our days more productive by doing things that would have taken us away from the things that made us money. There is always work for those who are willing to promote themselves and deliver as promised. Another avenue to pursue is the Internet. After we sold our video rental stores, I made all of my pocket money from eBay. My timing was good because I was able to sell just about everything that I listed. Not everything sells now, but an eBay seller can still make good money. I don't sell much on eBay now, mostly due to time constraints. I spend most of my time building websites like the one you are reading at this moment. This is my fifth website, not counting blogs, and my four previous ones are all making money. Building your own website through SBI is an amazing opportunity, and it is affordable. There are many different ways to monetize websites, and some don't require selling a product. If you are a decent writer, know how to use the Internet, and have the patience to stick it out until traffic builds, a website might be the best money making opportunity that you will even find.
