How My Kids Earn Money

Everyone remembers their first paycheck. But what about the little odd jobs you did as a kid before you were old enough for a legitimate job? That is where my kids are currently at right now. My son is 15 years old and my daughter is 13. At this point in their lives my son seems to have a little more drive to earn money than my daughter does. Some of that drive might have to do with getting a car soon and the payments that come with it.
So to earn some extra money my son does various odd jobs. During the winter he helps me out with snow removal at my business and at my mother's house. Then, during the summer he mows two or three different lawns on a weekly basis to earn money. Since he does sports after school he is not able to get a consistent job like some kids his age would do. I give him credit for balancing school work, sports, and little jobs.
My daughter on the other hand is more content just trying to get money from us. However, we told her that things were going to be changing, so a few months ago she started babysitting the neighbor's kids. While this doesn't offer her a lot of money, it gives her money to spend on clothes and whatever else she wants.
In a few years I think my wife is going to show her how to do some secretary work at my business, so that will offer her some more spending and more importantly, more that she can save.
