WordPress Is A Great Blog Platform

by Dee
(Warrenton, VA, USA)

I started using the WordPress platform about two years ago, but I got very serious about blogging in December of 2009. I did a lot of research about WordPress and liked everything I read. After I decided to use this particular blog platform, I researched free templates that were made for it, and there are a lot of those out there!

Since I am a creative person, I was very picky about the actual theme that I wanted for my alternative medicine blog, so it took me several days to search and find just the right theme that I thought would work the best for what I wanted to do. After I chose my theme, I installed it (I used my C-panel through my web host to upload and install the WordPress theme, which was rather easy to do).

Even though I am fairly web savvy, it took me about a week to learn the theme, WordPress in general, and then decide how I wanted to design my blog. Overall, I was up and running in about three to four weeks once I really learned how to use WordPress. Once you get used to posting, it really is pretty easy to blog on this great platform. You can add posts, media, images, links, pages, advertisements and decide if you want the comments on or off. Oh, I forgot to mention the available plugins specifically made for WordPress! There are many free plugins available to help your blog run smoothly. Also, this platform is capable of running widgets, and I use several, which is another great part of WordPress.

Upgrading WordPress to the latest version is also very easy to do, and I've only had to do it once so far. I recommend using WordPress especially if you are or want to become a serious blogger whether it be blogging information or trying to earn an income from your blog. WordPress is the way to go!
